Week 1
So in the afternoon on Wednesday was activity time so we wanted to do an activity that they had probably never encountered before which lead to tent building. They had limited time (1hr) and limited supplies (newspaper and tape). The tent also needed to be able to fit three people.
During the time, there was not much we could do but observe and hang out with the TAs (hence Dwhited having a good time). Once time was up the students went around and showed us their tents and how three people fit. Everyone was very creative.
Me with shiny, carol, and anne (TAs) as we were waiting for the students to be done. Some students very proud of their work!
The tents also needed to be free standing. Well we also had fun and learned elephant fighting.
While the activity was going on the TAs tried to help us get internet in our room. We learned that boys could come up to our room if they wore these awesome vests.
We had some extra time after the group discussions so we played "where the big wind blows."
Week 2
So we have learned that people in Taiwan do not like to be called party animals...yet we continue to call some of the party animals which is why we love Dennis's shirt. Dennis & Brian and Wayne. All the students are working on their tents.
Some of the tents came out really well and others did not but they all ended up getting destroyed because a big gust of wind came through and just destroyed them all. It was sad but okay. It gave the students something to talk about in their presentations and how they might have avoided it in the future.
