Ping Shan Heritage Trail
At the MTR waiting for the shuttle and Vibin eating some sushi. One of the first things I noticed when we started walking on the trail was the barrier that the MTR system was bringing to the town. The developers had started developing (hence the apartment buildings) on one side of the MTR while the side we were walking in had not been developed and reminded me of what I had imagined parts of Hong Kong and China would look like.
Pagoda-very old. The whole area along the trail was owned by the Tang clan (so one family).
Students telling us about the different sites we were seeing. A mini-buddhist temple that is still used by the town today. Kyle and May's students (they taught IT) organized it so that we could be introduced to some of the history of Hong Kong. It was so great to see some of the older sections of Hong Kong and learn about what Hong Kong was before the British took control.
Scared to be in there. I don't remember why now....i think it had to do with people being put in there to study and not allowed out until they were done...or something to that extent. Liz making a face at vibin as he sticks his finger in the water to see if the giant fish would come nibble.
Dinner with Dr. Chan
The nine of us with Dr. Chan in his home after our meal with him. It was great to see his apartment and be able to talk to him about Hong Kong. He graduated from MIT and worked in the USA before moving back to Hong Kong to work at VTC.
