Closing Ceremonies
So we did not have speakers but we had a microphone so the microphone helped us still be able to blast music throughout the area we were in for closing ceremonies. Of course as soon as we heard music, we created our own dance party. The whole day was not a dance party. We did ice breaker games as well as presentations as well as took lots of photos.
Group shot-- about 80 students and 9 MIT students all participated in the IVE seminar. we had 4 teams: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, IT, and Applied Sciences and about 20 students in each section.
Liz and mine students. We have so many pictures doing crazy things and having fun but I figured everyone would find it boring so I just included one or two photos. Liz with Dickson and Vibin with their hair as poofie as possible.
This is the space we did the closing ceremonies in. Tung and Adrian having fun.
Sei Kung
Sei Kung was beautiful. It is a fishing village with lots of delicious seafood but this was the scene that welcomed us once we got off the bus ride. My students had recommended that I come see this area of Hong Kong and I am so glad I did. It was beautiful and unlike anywhere else I had been in Hong Kong.We arrived once the sun was setting because we decided to go after the closing ceremony was done.
I was super excited. When I got off the bus and Emily and May and I started working I heard my name and turned around and saw one of my students (Nathanol) and Tracy (met her during the seminar) standing there getting ready to head back to Hong Kong City. I was so excited to run into someone that I knew when I was least expecting it. The next picture shows how fish is sold. It comes off the boats and into the bins and sit there alive until you buy them.
May and I standing in front of the water with all the boats in the background.
These fish were huge!! A fisherman caught this and they are waiting to be bought and sold. The harbor was so pretty at night with the boats and lights from the land.
After walking along the harbor for a while, we decided to wonder more inland and check out some of the side streets and found some really interesting things. Here are two pictures. The second picture I think is showing some kind of health care service but I am not sure what but there were medical beds and some medicine things in the room.
After walking around and working up an appetite we picked a restaurant where we could eat lots of fresh seafood but first before you eat, you must clean your bowls and spoons in the warm water they give you.
Fun pictures of us eating the fish. Some of it was a struggle. We had snails, I ate the eye of a fish (you get a whole fish and should eat all parts of it except for the bones). Emily was munching down on the head of the fish and I also struggled with eating the Albacone. May was enjoying some of our vegetables that we got.
Overall it was a delicious meal and we were definitely full (love may's face) by the time we left so we decided to go walk around some more and check out this pier that was very well lit.
