So before we left to go see the Big Buddha, I found Emily mixing ovaltine with her water but not just a little bit, but a lot of it. She was doing this to try to get minerals into her system. We were finding that we were getting head aches all the time and we were thinking it might be because of all the distilled water we were drinking so we were trying to mix other powders with our water to stop the head aches.
We decided to take the cable cars to the Big Buddha from the MTR stop. It took us about an hour to get on the cable cars but the views were amazing. The Big Buddha is located on Lantau Island.
Some view from our cable car....we could even see the Big Buddha!
Us at the base of the big buddha and about to enter the monastery area. Shannon with her umbrella! (doing her best to blend in with the asians...many people use umbrella's here but it does help her stop from getting burnt). Shannon came to visit us in Hong Kong for the weekend from Singapore where she is doing research for the summer.
Having fun with the different statues we found in the area right outside of where we got off the cable car. Also saw this very fashionable guy making sure to protect his face.
While at the monastery we were able to find a restaurant that only sold vegetarian food which we all got. It was delicious and Liz was so excited because she is vegetarian and has been struggling to find good vegetarian food/meals. The other picture shows me enjoying the air conditioning of the store. Hong Kong is trying to become all green and environmentally friendly but the waste they create from all their air conditioning is crazy. I could go on but will spare it for another conversation.
Having fun at the big buddha and we all admired the amazing views from the buddha.
