Taiwan is beautiful!! I was so lucky to spend my first weekend with Grace and her family...it is so cool to be visiting Grace at her home and in her country. On Sunday morning, grace, her parents and I drove along the coast up north. Our goal was to see the Candle Stick rocks. One of grace's dad's favorite places in Taiwan. We saw this view along and I got to see so many things and try so many things both on the way and on the way back. I absolutely love Taiwan after this weekend between the people, landscapes, and food.
We stopped at this stall along the way and picked up these seeds that are found in the water. When you crack them open there is something delicious to eat on the inside.
These rock formations were gorgeous and surrounded by gorgeous landscapes. Grace's dad calls them the candlesticks and the view of the candlesticks is from one of his favorite park. The park used to be a military base and only Taiwanese people could visit but luckily it is no longer so I could go see them.
Yehliu Geopark
This area is full of interesting rock geological formations. Some of the rocks look like different shapes (for example the second photo....it looks like there is a guerilla chilling there).
Another famous rock formation is the Queen (Grace and I are in front of it). It is an iconic image of Taiwan. After walking around the park we were really hot and picked up some different teas. They have so many teas that have different jellies in them. This one looked like there was fungus in the drink but it was really the seed of a fruit. It was good but really different texture. When I first tried it in Hong Kong I did not quite trust it but with Grace and her parents I decided I should drink some and enjoy it.
Lunch with her parents. We drove through a town on the water where a bunch of fisherman come in from sea and decided to stop for lunch and enjoyed tons of delicious seafood. In the next picture, I saw these stones in a pile that kinda looked like anchors and was really interested in them and learned that they are used to help decrease the impact of waves on shore so that the sand on the beaches does not disappear. The stones help absorb some of the energy. Really interesting.
