Having fun on the Shanghai Metro. After dropping our stuff off at Anne Shen mom's apartment we (group of us from Taiwan) went to find Anne Shen in Cheng Huang Miao. She was showing Shannon around Shanghai and this was the area they were at in the afternoon.
This the area where I found chopstick man and woman. They will become an important part of our travels.
After walking around the area we went to Hai Di Lao to meet up with Anne Shen's mom for dinner. It is one of Anne's favorite dinner places since it has such good hotpot. Mary Xu also joined us for dinner. While at dinner, I showed them the purchase I had made earlier in the day (aka the purchase of chopstick woman and man). The reactions were awesome.
Us watching as shrimp noodles were being placed in the hotpot. This guy was so cool! He made noodles from scratch and then spun it all around to get it into the correct shape before putting it into the hot pot to cook and then be eaten.
After dinner we decided to walk around Shanghai some at night. Dwang got really excited when she saw this statue because it was left over from the Shanghai expo which she had been to the previous year. The gang just standing around on the street.
Anne Shen knew of a hotel whose lobby was on like the 32nd floor so took the elevator to the lobby in order to see the city from above. I loved this roadway and it was al lit up so that was the focus of the pictures I took (Dwang has a nicer camera so she helped me get this awesome picture on her camera).
Here is the roadway again as captured on my camera. Afterwards we walked around on a street that was only for pedestrians and kyle saw this man with his shirt rolled. The first time he came to China (3yrs before) he had gone all around China taking pictures of different men with their shirts rolled (apparently it is a thing in china...or was a more popular style) and he made a "read it" post and it became the top read post for that day. During this trip, we were trying to think of another read it post that he could do to be number one again.
Shanghai skyline from across the river. It was awesome to spend the afternoon walking around Shanghai and seeing it after having spent a semester studying it. I look forward to my next visit to China where I can spend more time wondering the city.
